Job Summary:

The RDC Manager is responsible for the management and administration of the Reecy Davis Recreation Center. This includes oversight of facility operations, staff recruitment and development, program creation, budgeting, community engagement, and partnership management. The position ensures the delivery of quality recreational programs and services, oversees day-to-day facility operations, and supports the City’s mission to provide safe, engaging, and inclusive recreational opportunities. The Manager reports directly to the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Parks and Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in parks and recreation programming, facility management, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas driver’s license.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage the daily operations, administration, and programming of the Reecy Davis Recreation Center.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, coach, and develop staff to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Create, coordinate, and implement recreational, fitness, senior, and special event programming tailored to community needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate facility operations, programs, and services; make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including revenue projections, expenditures, and cost analyses.
  • Coordinate investigations of incidents and accidents; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Oversee the use of recreation software and ensure accurate reporting and data management.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the City and the Boys & Girls Club, ensuring alignment of services and effective communication.
  • Oversee facility reservations, maintenance, and operational practices to ensure safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

  • Recreation facility management principles and operations.
  • Recreation program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Safety practices and standards related to recreational facilities and equipment.
  • Facility mechanical systems, building operations, and applicable codes and ordinances (preferred).
  • City policies and procedures.

Skills in:

  • Leadership, supervision, and staff development.
  • Budget preparation, financial tracking, and cost analysis.
  • Effective communication and public relations with staff, patrons, and community partners.
  • Program planning, marketing, and evaluation.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational management.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an indoor recreational facility environment with low to moderate noise levels. Regular activities include standing, walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, and visual observation. The position requires lifting or moving up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 70 pounds. Work may also occur outdoors, with potential exposure to extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity.
