IRS is experiencing an exciting period of controlled growth, and we’re looking for a talented Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Service Engineer to join our expert team. With a reputation built since 1990 and a strong portfolio of commercial and industrial clients, we take pride in delivering exceptional service—and we want you to be part of it.

The Role

You’ll play a key part in supporting our contracted clients throughout the Midlands, working closely with our Director of Service and Helpdesk Team to deliver fast, accurate diagnostics and high-quality breakdown, repair, and planned maintenance services.

Every day brings variety—from small commercial systems to large industrial plant—and we’re looking for engineers who enjoy fault-finding, problem-solving, and taking ownership of their work.

What You’ll Do

• Attend and resolve refrigeration and HVAC breakdowns, carrying out remedial repairs, servicing, and planned maintenance.
• Provide occasional support to our Projects Team with new installations or replacement works.
• Participate in our 24/7/365 callout rota (currently 1 day in 10).

What We’re Looking For

• A proven background as a mobile Refrigeration/HVAC Service Engineer.
• Someone who can work independently while also contributing positively to the team.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• A proactive engineer with a strong “can-do” attitude.
• Flexibility for overtime, sometimes at short notice.
• F-Gas Cat 1 certification (essential).
• Electrical/controls experience (advantageous).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental best practices.
• Ability to pass an annual DBS check (cost covered by IRS).

What We Offer

• OTE £60k
• Competitive basic rate: £17.50–£20.00 p/hr (based on experience).
• 39-hour standard work week (on-site).
• Door-to-door travel paid on top of salaried hours.
• Overtime at 1.5x standard rate.
• Performance-related bonus (achievable targets) up to £2,000 per year, paid twice annually.
• Excellent on-call payments:
• £30 (Mon–Thu)
• £45 (Fri)
• £60 (Sat–Sun)
• £75 + 1 day in lieu (Bank Holidays)
• Plus minimum 4 hours at overtime rate (door-to-door) on callouts.
• 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays.
• Company vehicle (with optional personal use) fitted with custom racking.
