Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer

Job Overview

We’re on the lookout for a down-to-earth, experienced Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join our team. We’re based in the Northeast, but this role will take you all over the UK, so you’ll need to be comfortable with travel and working away from home when needed.

The Role:

You’ll be out on-site installing, servicing, and repairing a range of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. No two days are the same — one day you might be fault-finding on a commercial system, the next installing new kit on a larger project.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Solid experience in air-con and refrigeration
  • F-Gas certification (or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Someone reliable, practical, and easy to get along with
  • Happy to travel and stay away for jobs when required

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and repair a wide range of air conditioning units and systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to facilitate accurate installation and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct routine maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently, including cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot system faults using diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes swiftly and implement effective solutions.
  • Lead small teams during installation or repair projects, providing guidance and ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including repairs, parts used, and system performance reports.
  • Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or refurbishment projects to integrate air conditioning solutions seamlessly into the overall design.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments as necessary.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with air conditioning systems within commercial or industrial environments.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings accurately.
  • Demonstrated capability in equipment repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex HVAC systems.
  • Leadership experience is desirable, especially in supervising or mentoring junior team members during installation or repair tasks.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company car
  • Company pension
