Refrigeration Technician / Handyman

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Refrigeration Technician / Handyman to join our maintenance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to perform a wide range of repair, installation, and maintenance tasks across refrigeration systems, HVAC units, plumbing, and general property upkeep. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to ensure all equipment and facilities operate smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, functional environment while supporting the overall operational excellence of our property.

Duties

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration units and HVAC/R equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of air conditioning units, boilers, mechanical systems, and appliances to ensure optimal performance.
• Read schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design documents to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
• Perform plumbing repairs and installations, including leak detection, and fixture replacements.
• Utilize tools such as ohmmeters and mechanical components.
• Assist with property maintenance tasks such as, painting, and general handyman duties to uphold facility standards.
• Support field service operations by responding promptly to service requests across various systems and equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for accountability and future reference.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a service technician with a strong background in refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration) and HVAC systems.
• Hands-on experience with construction projects, equipment repair, plumbing, electrical work,.
• Mechanical knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, air conditioning systems, and property maintenance procedures.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; familiarity with HVAC/R standards is highly desirable.
• Strong field service skills with the ability to troubleshoot effectively using tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating commercial vehicles preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders,or working in confined spaces.
