Regional Director – Engineering Consulting


An established employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking a Regional Director to lead operations, business development, and team growth within a key regional office. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving profitable growth, strengthening client relationships, developing high-performing teams, and fostering a collaborative, people-focused culture aligned with company values.


Familiarity with and business development experience in the following market sectors is key: advanced manufacturing, life sciences, industrial sectors, aerospace, and chemical + process.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in consulting engineering leadership, operational management, and strategic business development, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and expand market presence across the region.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual regional business plan, including budgeting, sales strategy, marketing initiatives, and revenue growth objectives.
  • Lead regional business development efforts, including client relationship management, prospecting, proposal strategy, and contract negotiations.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
  • Oversee regional operations and team performance to ensure successful project delivery aligned with quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for regional staff, including hiring, coaching, retention, and succession planning.
  • Drive employee engagement and cultivate a positive office culture centered around collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
  • Partner with technical and operational leadership to forecast staffing needs, allocate resources, and resolve workload challenges across offices and disciplines.
  • Collaborate with peer regional leaders to support strategic initiatives, improve operational consistency, and share resources across the organization.
  • Participate in leadership planning sessions and contribute to broader organizational growth strategies.
  • Oversee regional office administration, vendor coordination, workplace operations, and community engagement initiatives.


Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience within consulting engineering, architecture, or related technical industries.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, operations, and business growth within a professional services environment.
  • Strong track record in business development, client management, and strategic planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of industry practices, project delivery methods, and regional market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of execution.
  • Willingness to travel regionally as needed for client meetings, project support, and business development activities.
