Building & Leading Local Territory Teams • Chronic Venous, Lymphatic, Wound Care & DME

Compensation:
$160,000–$180,000 base
+ performance bonus (quota-based variable), car allowance, phone allowance, technology, and reimbursed business expenses. Meaningful upside as the region scales.
Position Summary:
We’re looking for someone from the vein and vascular world who is ready to move beyond the individual-contributor role and lean into a team-based approach — ideally a top performer or player-coach stepping into their first (or next) regional leadership role.
This person understands how venous intervention and vascular practices think and is energized by building a team and a market from an early-stage, resource-lean base. The Regional Sales Director – Vein & Vascular leads and grows Sun Scientific’s East region by building out and expanding local territory teams that both land new accounts and pull through consistent, repeat business.
This is a team-based DME sale: rather than carrying a single bag, the RSD stands up and coaches field teams that combine new-account origination with the ongoing account management and reorder pull-through that turn a first order into a durable, recurring book of business.
Sun sells into a category that is still being educated — chronic venous and lymphatic disease, compression therapy, and wound care — where clinical credibility and reimbursement fluency matter as much as sales drive. The RSD is the commercial owner of the region: setting territory structure, hiring and coaching the team, and driving the full sales cycle from first in-service through repeat fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
Region & Team Buildout
-
Own the East region’s revenue quota and build out the local territory teams that deliver it, scaling team count and headcount as the region grows.
-
Structure and staff for each territory team to combine new account acquisition with repeat-order pull-through and ongoing account servicing — a true team-based DME sale rather than a collection of solo reps.
-
Set territory, specialty, and account priorities, sequencing the highest-value venous, lymphatic, wound care, and DME opportunities.
Landing & Pulling Through Business (the core engine)
-
Drive new account origination: coach the team to open physician practices, vein/vascular and wound care clinics, and referral sources across the region.
-
Own repeat-order pull-through ensure accounts move from a first order into established, consistent, recurring volume.
-
Anchor field activity on in-services and clinical education as the primary driver of adoption and reorder behavior.
Clinical & Reimbursement Credibility
-
Serve as the region’s senior clinical and commercial resource with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff across venous/lymphatic disease and wound care.
-
Bring working fluency in DME reimbursement mechanics (HCPCS coding, Medicare allowable, capped rental / DMEPOS dynamics) to help teams and accounts navigate the order-to-reimbursement path.
Team Leadership & Development
-
Recruit, onboard, coach, and manage the field team across the region’s territories, scaling toward multiple teams and a growing direct and indirect headcount.
-
Run field ride-alongs, in-service coaching, and performance management against team-level activity and revenue targets.
-
Build a repeatable regional playbook others can run as new territory teams — and eventually additional RSDs — are added.
Operations, Data & Cross-Functional Partnership
-
Maintain an accurate regional pipeline and forecast; use performance data and sales dashboards to manage team results.
-
Partner with internal operations on order intake, verification, and fulfillment so field wins convert cleanly into billed, repeat orders.
-
Relay field intelligence on competitors, pricing, and clinical objections back to Sales, Marketing, and R&D.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree.
-
5+ years of medical device or medical sales experience in the vein and vascular space — venous intervention, compression / lymphatic therapy, wound care, or related vascular products.
-
A sustained track record of quota overachievement, paired with a clear readiness to move beyond individual production into building, coaching, and leading a field team — as a manager, player coach, trainer, or mentor.
-
Strong clinical acumen and credibility with physicians and clinical staff.
-
Working understanding the DME industry and reimbursement landscape.
-
Comfort in a fast-paced, resource-lean, build-it-yourself environment with limited infrastructure.
-
Willingness to travel across the region: local ~50–60%, overnight ~30%.
Preferred
-
Existing physician, clinic, and referral relationships within the East region.
-
Experience selling a pull-through / recurring-order model — a team-based DME, consumables, or compression sale — rather than one-time capital equipment.
-
Prior experience training, coaching, or leading reps (formal or player-coach).
-
Familiarity with venous ablation / endovenous practices as referral and account context.
-
Prior experience as an early commercial hire at a startup or newly launched product line.
Core Competencies
-
Builds and runs teams — not just carries a bag.
-
Balances hunter origination with disciplined, team-based repeat-order pull-through.
-
Clinical and reimbursement credibility with physicians and clinical staff.
-
Coaching, developing, and holding a field team accountable.
-
Data-driven pipeline, forecast, and performance management.
-
Resilience, ownership, and grit in an early-stage environment.
