Role Overview
The Head – Microfinance will lead and manage the microfinance operations for the assigned geography, driving business growth, portfolio quality, operational efficiency, and financial inclusion objectives. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement to ensure sustainable and profitable expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute location-specific business plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Drive portfolio growth across microfinance products (JLG, individual loans, MSME loans, etc.).
- Identify new market opportunities, expansion areas, and partnership channels.
- Ensure achievement of disbursement, AUM, and revenue targets.
2. Portfolio & Risk Management
- Maintain high portfolio quality and control PAR, NPA, and write-offs within defined thresholds.
- Strengthen credit appraisal, underwriting, and monitoring processes.
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and regulatory norms.
- Implement proactive risk mitigation and recovery strategies.
3. Operations & Process Excellence
- Oversee end-to-end branch operations within the assigned geography.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, audit requirements, and internal controls.
- Drive digital adoption and process automation for operational efficiency.
- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) for loan processing and disbursement.
4. Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Lead, mentor, and manage Regional/Cluster/Branch Managers and field teams.
- Build high-performance teams with strong customer focus and ethical standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and training interventions.
- Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives.
5. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines issued by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other applicable authorities.
- Maintain adherence to fair practices code and customer protection principles.
- Coordinate with internal audit, risk, and compliance teams.
6. Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Build relationships with local authorities, SHGs, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Strengthen the brand presence in the assigned location.
- Address customer grievances and ensure high service standards.
