Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensure infection control protocols are followed, and support the delivery of high-quality dental care. This role offers opportunities to work in general and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced dental technology and maintaining comprehensive medical documentation. The Registered Dental Assistant will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for patients while adhering to all HIPAA and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and surgeries.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans, while following radiation safety protocols.
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EMR systems such as Open Dental).
- Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform dental assisting duties including four-handed dentistry, medical imaging, and chairside support.
- Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization and disinfection procedures.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as verifying insurance information and processing dental documentation.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology.
- Experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and other dental imaging technologies.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures across general dentistry disciplines including endodontics and prosthodontics.
- Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with team members.
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for new graduates or those transitioning into the role.
