JOB SUMMARY

Zam Dental, a dynamic and privately owned dental practice, is on the lookout for a high-energy Registered Dental Assistant to join our dedicated team. Dr. Melody Zamora, owner and dentist, established Zam Dental in 2014 and is proud to offer comprehensive dental services to the community. We prioritize patient education and foster a welcoming environment to ensure a premium patient experience. The practice exclusively serves PPO and fee for service patients, while offering several payment options for clients, including an in-house dental membership plan.

The clinic is proud to offer modern amenities to our team of clinicians such as advanced Green CBCT and Pano technologies, Itero 3D wellness scans, Digital X-ray systems, in-house crown milling, Dental Intel analytics, Overjet AI-assisted technologies and Hiossen & Straumann Implant systems. These technologies allow our entire team to provide the latest and greatest state-of-the-art dental care for our community.

A successful RDA-candidate will eagerly greet and seat patients, prepares equipment and materials for dental procedures, performs four-handed dental assisting duties, and perform clinical and technical procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The goal is to serve and provide superior clinical and administrative support for dentists, and to be an example of quality customer service for both patients and staff alike. Travel to 2 locations is required for this position.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepares and restocks treatments rooms and other clinical support areas as needed.
  • Changes all chemical solutions such as, disinfectant soaks and sprays, sterilants, and ultrasonic cleaning solutions.
  • Reviews medical history, progress from the previous visit, if applicable, and the scheduled treatment plan with each patient.
  • Performs four-handed dental assisting procedures to including aspirating and retracting tissues.
  • Removes post-extraction and periodontal dressings.
  • Pours and trims impression casts.
  • Records treatment rendered in the patients chart and charges out all procedures.
  • Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
  • Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.
  • Escorts patient to the business area for follow-up and rescheduling.
  • Decontaminates all treatment rooms and sterilizes instruments after each patient appointment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of treatment rooms, lab and sterilizing areas.

· Process equipment and facility repair requests as needed.

  • Complies with and enforces all practice policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Complies with and enforces all OSHA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and reports incidents and/or violations as required.
  • Complies with and enforces all HIPAA standards, and reports ethics and compliance violations as required.
  • Complies with assigned work schedules and the practice’s timekeeping policies.
  • Answer incoming office/patient calls as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must possess knowledge of federal, state, and commercial insurance regulations and programs.

· Ability to read and comprehend patient medical history information, insurance explanations of benefits, computer screens and performance metrics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to one hour.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to perform administrative tasks.
  • Must be able to constantly operate a computer and/or other office equipment such as a calculator, copy machine, or printer.
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level is usually moderate.

CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REQUIREMENTS:

· Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

· Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of three (3) year dental assisting work experience.
