Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies using aseptic technique and proper infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and patient safety
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic to document treatment details accurately and efficiently
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient medical history to support comprehensive care delivery
- Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, and post-treatment care to promote understanding and compliance
- Support administrative duties as a dental receptionist when needed, including appointment scheduling and patient communication
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures
- Knowledge of dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting skills
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures
- Experience with medical documentation, medical coding, HIPAA compliance, and managing medical records securely
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms for record keeping
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients preferred
- Certification or training in X-ray safety and radiation protection is highly desirable
