Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Take dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage medical documentation, including updating electronic health records, recording vital signs, and maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in general dentistry with proficiency in chairside assisting, dental terminology, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Carestream for medical documentation and records management.
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and radiation safety protocols.
- Understanding of anatomy, dental assisting procedures, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric dentistry and other specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and support anxious patients with compassionate care.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and educate patients clearly.
