Overall Summary:
The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) performs a variety of dental assisting duties while promoting a safe and clean environment for quality dental care. These duties include but are not limited to assisting the doctor and teaching patients how to care for their teeth.
Essential Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Clinic Manager, the Registered Dental Assistant performs a variety of complex, professional, analytical, and confidential Dental services. Duties include:

Digital dental radiographs (x-rays) and dental photographs

Assists the dentist during a variety of examinations and treatment procedures: instrument transfer, dental procedure isolation techniques, and preparation of dental materials

Prepares treatment rooms, instruments, and cassettes for procedures
-
Records medical, dental history, vital signs, and visit information in the electronic patient record (QSI)
-
Pours, trims, and polishes study casts; fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions; cleans and polishes removable appliances; and fabricates temporary restorations

Serves as an infection control officer, follows infection control protocols, and sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment

Assists patients with referrals and follow-up appointments

Takes impressions of patients’ teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
Secondary Responsibilities:

Other duties as assigned.

Assume general administrative duties including faxing, filing, copying, etc.

Attend webinars, workshops, training, and/or meetings as requested by the Clinic Manager.

Perform special project research and data collection activities as requested by the Clinic Manager; analyze and interpret data, and prepare reports.

Coordinate special staff events and prepare and distribute promotional flyers for such events.
Requirements:
Qualifications:

Required: CA RDA License, Coronal Polishing License, Sealant License
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required
-
X-ray license required
-
Minimum of two years of experience as a DA preferred
-
Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Farsi, Vietnamese, Mandarin)

Community or public health experience preferred

CPR training
-
Work Conditions:
-
Travel locally to visit other sites; may require a day or overnight trip to attend events. Workload may be demanding at times and requires professionalism and confidentiality.

This position requires:

Sitting, walking, and standing associated with a normal medical, clinical, and administrative office environment, with some bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Manual dexterity for tasks involving standard office equipment and computer keyboard, including repetitive movements such as typing.

Traveling to work sites, including some exposure to outside elements.
-
Exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations, requiring adherence to extensive safety precautions and possibly the use of protective equipment.
