Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control standards.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in medical documentation.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging or assessments as needed for pediatric or medically compromised patients.
- Maintain a clean and aseptic environment by following infection control protocols and proper sterilization procedures.
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient flow smoothly.
- Utilize knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and diagnoses.
- Operate advanced equipment such as 3D scanners when required for comprehensive diagnostics or treatment planning.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics preferred.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and dental assisting procedures.
- Knowledge of dental radiography including X-ray techniques and safety protocols.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
