Registered Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies
  • Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow
  • Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed
  • Review and update medical records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality

Requirements

  • Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations
  • Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
  • Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards
  • Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate documentation and billing
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members
