Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation review.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, infection control procedures, and aseptic technique to support safe clinical practices.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures and the ability to interpret dental radiographs effectively.
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
