Registered Dental Hygienist

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies.
• Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying fluoride treatments.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures.
• Collaborate with dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
• Review documentation for accuracy, including medical coding and medical terminology entries in electronic medical records (EMR systems).
• Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
• Ensure all clinical areas adhere to infection control standards and maintain a sterile environment.

Skills

• Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
• Experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings is highly preferred.
• Skilled in chairside assisting, including taking vital signs and medical imaging procedures.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, ensuring they feel safe and cared for.
• Knowledge of medical records management, medical coding, and EMR systems integration.

Pay: $42.00 - $46.00 per hour
