Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, including vital signs assessment and managing medical emergencies if needed.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics to effectively care for young patients.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, including aseptic technique and medical imaging procedures.
- Ability to review medical records accurately and understand medical coding for billing purposes.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to individual needs.
