Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral health evaluations.
- Assist with patient education on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols.
- Support dentists during procedures through chairside assisting, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment plans, patient interactions, and medical coding as required.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and secure handling of medical records and documentation review processes.
Skills
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, including medical coding and medical terminology relevant to dental practice.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education, team collaboration, and documentation review.
