Duties

• Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options.
• Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants or fluoride treatments, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding as needed for billing purposes.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental software such as Oryx, Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
• Experience with pediatric dentistry, including working with children in a compassionate and engaging manner.
• Skilled in patient care, patient assessment, and chairside assisting within general dentistry practices.
• Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and interpret medical imaging results effectively.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding processes relevant to dental practice operations.
