Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong oral health.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies.
- Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively.
- Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, including chairside assisting and documentation review.
- Understanding of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and infection prevention protocols.
