Registered Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities

• Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, to ensure safe treatment plans
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort
• Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques
• Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR)
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times

Skills

• Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques
• Experience in pediatric dentistry and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable
• Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments, medical imaging equipment, and patient care tools
• Ability to assess patient needs comprehensively through patient assessment techniques and documentation review
• Familiarity with medical coding, medical terminology, and medical records management for accurate documentation
• Knowledge of general dentistry procedures, infection prevention standards, and HIPAA compliance regulations
