- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to ensure safe and effective treatment plans
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health
- Take dental imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EDR (Electronic Dental Records) systems like Open Dental
- Review dental records for completeness, ensure HIPAA compliance, and support dental coding accuracy for billing purposes
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification
- Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental is highly desirable
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, documentation review processes, and dental coding standards to ensure compliance and accuracy
