Asheville Smiles Cosmetic & Family Dentistry is seeking an exceptional Registered Dental Hygienist to join our thriving, privately owned practice in Arden, North Carolina.

This is not a corporate office. We are looking for a hygienist who is passionate about dentistry, committed to excellence, and enjoys building lasting relationships with patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary advice, and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong dental health
  • Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort
  • Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and radiation safety standards
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely
  • Support infection control procedures by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining a clean clinical environment
  • Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety during treatment sessions
  • Collaborate with the dental team to review documentation, update treatment plans, and coordinate care effectively

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and medical coding practices
  • Experience working with pediatric dentistry or treating pediatric patients is a plus but not required
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting duties when necessary and support general dentistry procedures confidently
  • Excellent communication skills for educating patients about their oral health needs clearly and compassionately
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes is advantageous
