Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, while educating patients on oral hygiene practices.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications to ensure safe treatment plans.
• Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and sterilizing instruments according to industry standards.
• Review medical records and documentation for completeness and accuracy before procedures.
• Educate patients about dental terminology, treatment options, and preventive care strategies tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
• Collaborate with the dental team on patient care plans, ensuring seamless communication across all aspects of general dentistry services.

Experience

• Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient documentation review and record management.
• Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA guidelines.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping and billing processes.
• Experience providing pediatric dentistry services is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is highly valued.
• Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently.
