REGISTERED DIETITIAN (4-6 HOURS PER WEEK)

Michigan Kidney Consultants (MKC), P.C. is Southeast Michigan’s largest board-certified nephrology group. Our physicians and nurse practitioners are dedicated to providing the latest, most advanced diagnostics and treatments available for kidney disease and end-stage renal failure. MKC offers appointments in eight locations in greater Detroit, Michigan, including Troy, Royal Oak, Southfield, Novi, Pontiac, Clarkston, Rochester Hills and Sterling Heights.
All of our physicians are board certified in the sub-specialty of nephrology as well as internal medicine. A nephrologist is a physician who has been educated and trained in kidney disease, kidney transplantation, and dialysis therapy.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Dietitian provides services and education to patients with chronic kidney disease. They work to support the delay of disease progression and/or improve health. They work closely with patients to understand their specific dietary needs, preferences, and goals. They use this information to develop a nutrition plan catered specifically for the patient. The Dietitian will follow up on the patient’s progress and will update their nutrition plan accordingly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Independently evaluate and create comprehensive dietary assessment and plan of care, and deliver in 45-minute to one hour sessions
· Provide education sessions both in -person and via Telehealth
· Design or select educational materials appropriate for each individual patient
· Ensure patients understanding of care plan through motivational interviewing techniques
· Complete appropriate billing and documentation on the date services are performed
· Follow up with patients to evaluate plan of care progression and need for updated education or goal adjustment
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills when assessing patient nutrition
· Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
· Must have current board certification
· Previous renal dietitian experience preferred
· Previous hospital-based dietitian experience preferred
· Knowledge of medical terminology, dietary and care management billing
· Excellent interpersonal skills to promote productive sessions with patients and effective knowledge transfer with other staff, including physicians
· Ability to multitask and manage multiple, competing priorities
· Proficient organizational management skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Proficient verbal and written skills
· Working knowledge of EPIC (Acumen) EMR
· Care Management Certification (MICMT); if not already certified, the company will aid the hired candidate in obtaining certification
· Ability to travel to other offices if necessary
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
