Registered Medical Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care, support clinical operations, and assist healthcare providers in delivering high-quality medical services. Your expertise in medical procedures, patient interaction, and administrative support will help ensure a smooth and efficient clinic or hospital environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work across diverse medical settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, emergency departments, and specialized care areas such as dermatology, internal medicine, or trauma centers.

Duties

  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and assisting with physical assessments.
  • Support physicians and nurses with clinical procedures such as medication administration, wound care, X-ray processing, and basic life support when needed.
  • Manage patient intake processes efficiently by verifying insurance information, updating electronic health record (EHR) systems, and documenting patient interactions accurately.
  • Assist with diagnostic tests including EKGs, X-ray imaging, and other laboratory procedures in various settings like outpatient clinics or hospital units.
  • Ensure proper medication handling and administration under supervision while adhering to safety protocols and medication regulations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, ICD coding for diagnoses, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, offering comfort during procedures, and ensuring a positive experience for diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU or OR environments.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent licensure required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Proven experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinics—particularly within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, ICD coding practices, and pharmacology principles.
  • Hands-on experience with EHR systems for documentation and patient management; familiarity with hospital information systems is a plus.
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs collection, specimen collection, intake assessments, and basic X-ray procedures confidently.
  • Experience working in inpatient settings like Geriatrics wards or Medical-Surgical units; OR or PICU experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across various healthcare environments including internal medicine clinics or trauma centers.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
