Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience across various specialties, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient care. This role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, administering medications and treatments, and coordinating care in a fast-paced environment. The Registered Nurse will utilize advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate documentation and seamless communication. Experience with specialized procedures like botulinum toxin treatment, dialysis, IV infusion, catheterization, suturing, and sterile processing is highly valued. The position offers the opportunity to work in diverse settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, assisted living centers, and home care environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation
- Administer medications via injections, IV infusions, and other routes following aseptic techniques
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheter care, ostomy care, tube feeding, and wound management
- Manage airway through ventilator support and airway management techniques
- Provide acute pain management and participate in trauma medicine protocols in Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures such as sonography and mammography
- Coordinate discharge planning and case management for post-acute care patients
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialties including ICU, PICU, neonatal ventilator units, hospice & palliative medicine, infectious disease care, behavioral health, geriatrics, pediatrics, and primary care
- Educate patients on health coaching topics such as nutrition, family planning, medication adherence, and disease management
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain a sterile environment during procedures like sterile processing or esthetic laser treatments
Skills
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks
- Extensive clinical background in areas including critical care (ICU), emergency room (ER), surgical units (OR), outpatient clinics (urgent care), long-term care (nursing homes), assisted living facilities, home & community care
- Proficiency in advanced nursing procedures: IV insertion/infusion, phlebotomy/venipuncture, catheterization (urinary/vascular), suturing techniques
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology to perform accurate patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Ability to manage complex cases involving trauma medicine or Level I/II trauma center protocols
- Skilled in infection control practices and aseptic techniques during invasive procedures
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (memory/dementia/alzheimer’s care), patients with disabilities or developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding for diagnoses (ICD-9/ICD-10)
- Strong communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to work under pressure in high-acuity environments such as critical care transport or hospital settings
