Position Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to mothers, newborns, pediatric patients, and women undergoing obstetric/gynecological treatment. The role ensures safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care while following hospital protocols and clinical standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in labor room, maternity ward, NICU/PICU, OT, and general wards as per duty assignment.
  • Assess patient condition, monitor vitals, maintain charts, and promptly report abnormalities to the doctor.
  • Assist gynecologists, pediatricians, and anesthetists during deliveries, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and perform nursing procedures accurately as per doctor’s orders.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques and follow infection control protocols.
  • Prepare delivery sets, instruments, and ensure OT/Labour room readiness at all times.
  • Provide newborn care—safe handling, feeding support, thermoregulation, and monitoring.
  • Support mothers with breastfeeding, postnatal care, and patient education.
  • Ensure proper documentation including nurses’ notes, intake–output charts, treatment sheets, and handover reports.
  • Coordinate with laboratory, pharmacy, and other departments for investigations and patient needs.
  • Maintain stock of medicines, consumables, and emergency drugs; report shortages.
  • Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently; initiate first-line management.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and ensure empathetic communication with patients and families.
  • Follow hospital policies, safety guidelines, and participate in training/quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institute.
  • Valid nursing registration.
  • Experience in maternity, pediatric, NICU, or OT care preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills, communication abilities, and willingness to work in rotational shifts.
