Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history reviews.
- Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions and immunizations such as botulinum toxin treatments.
- Operate and document using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure accurate medical records.
- Manage complex clinical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, ventilator management, and sterile processing.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics in memory care or assisted living settings, pediatric patients in neonatal or pediatric units, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Coordinate patient care plans through case management and discharge planning while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Support emergency interventions by managing airway techniques, trauma medicine protocols at Level I or Level II trauma centers, and acute pain management strategies.
- Conduct laboratory specimen collection and processing; perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation.
- Engage in infection control practices including aseptic techniques and infectious disease care protocols to maintain a safe environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across outpatient clinics, inpatient units, home care services, or urgent care centers to deliver seamless healthcare delivery.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in acute care settings such as hospital medicine or ICU environments with Level I or Level II trauma center exposure preferred.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable; familiarity with medical documentation standards including CPT coding is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in critical care procedures including ventilator management, dialysis support, PICU or neonatal ventilator experience preferred.
- Background in specialized fields such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (oculoplastic procedures), hospice & palliative medicine or behavioral health enhances your candidacy.
- Prior work in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities is advantageous; experience with geriatrics and dementia/dementia care is valued.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is beneficial; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) for diagnostic accuracy is essential.
- Strong foundation in medical terminology combined with excellent patient assessment skills; experience performing triage in urgent or emergency settings is preferred. Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
