Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage complex clinical procedures including IV infusions, catheterizations, suturing, tube feeding, and ventilator management with precision and aseptic technique.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care efforts such as trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers, ICU or PICU settings, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health programs.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection/processing and interpret diagnostic imaging reports such as sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Provide education on health coaching topics including chronic disease management, medication administration, nutrition, and discharge planning to empower patients for ongoing wellness.
Skills
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform accurate physical examinations and assessments.
- Skilled in critical care procedures such as airway management, ventilator support, trauma medicine protocols, and acute pain management.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and medical documentation standards aligned with NCQA standards.
- Experience working in diverse settings such as hospital medicine units—including ICU and emergency room—long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living—and outpatient clinics like urgent care or outpatient surgery centers.
- Ability to perform specialized tasks such as ostomy care, dialysis support, infectious disease care protocols, or working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Excellent patient care skills complemented by strong communication abilities to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate support to patients of all ages—including pediatrics and geriatrics.
