Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and ostomy care with precision and confidence.
- Manage acute pain through tailored pain management strategies in settings like ICU, trauma centers, or emergency rooms.
- Coordinate patient care plans involving case management, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across primary care, behavioral health, geriatrics, or pediatric units.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and interpreting diagnostic imaging reports such as sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Provide compassionate care for individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s), memory care needs, or hospice & palliative medicine requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare standards such as NCQA standards and ICD coding practices (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Support infection control protocols and sterile processing procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Educate patients on health coaching topics like nutrition, family planning, or medication administration while promoting health literacy.
Skills
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, ICU, emergency medicine, outpatient clinics, or home care settings.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Skilled in performing complex procedures including IV insertion/venipuncture, ventilator management, spinal taps, gastrostomy care, and sterile techniques.
- Experience working with special populations such as pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator care), long-term care residents (including assisted living and nursing homes), or individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations in trauma centers (Level I & II Trauma Centers), critical care units (ICU), or urgent/emergency care environments.
- Familiarity with Workers' compensation law and occupational health protocols for workplace injury management.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to perform physical examinations and patient assessments accurately while demonstrating physiology knowledge and attention to detail.
