Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Reports to: Director of Nursing | Indirect to CCQO

About the Role

Van Buren County Hospital is hiring a House Supervisor to support and coordinate clinical operations during weekday daytime hours. This role serves as on-site leadership for staffing, patient care support, and real-time problem solving across the hospital.

If you’re a strong, experienced RN with solid clinical judgment and a steady leadership presence, this is an opportunity to directly support frontline teams and strengthen patient care operations at VBCH.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate hospital-wide clinical operations Monday–Thursday.
  • Assess staffing needs and reallocate clinical staff as needed to maintain safe coverage.
  • Provide direct clinical support including triage, procedures, and patient care.
  • Assist in ED, Med-Surg, Clinic, Infusion, and OR when needed.
  • Respond to patient care emergencies and help coordinate internal responses.
  • Address patient and family concerns in real time.
  • Document operational issues, safety concerns, and staffing challenges.
  • Coach and mentor staff, reinforce policy, and escalate concerns to leadership.
  • Support QAPI, safety, and quality improvement projects.
  • Lead huddles and maintain communication with leadership teams.
  • Complete and submit the daily House Supervisor Checklist.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of accredited RN program; Iowa or compact RN license required.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of clinical RN experience.
  • Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and organizational skills.
