Shift & Schedule:

  • Full-Time | Nights
  • 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
  • Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Unit Beds: 9 Labor & Delivery rooms, 2 ORs
  • Patient Ratios: Varies based on acuity

Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery RN provides compassionate, evidence-based care during one of life’s most critical moments—childbirth. This role requires skilled clinical judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage both routine and high-risk situations.

The RN will oversee the care provided to patients, perform comprehensive assessments, initiate individualized care plans, and collaborate with physicians and care teams to ensure safe delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical assessments of mothers and neonates before, during, and after delivery
  • Monitor vital signs, labor progression, fetal heart rates, and manage pain relief interventions
  • Assist with labor and delivery, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections
  • Educate patients and their families about postpartum care, breastfeeding, and recovery
  • Collaborate with providers, anesthesiologists, and support staff to optimize outcomes
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Respond effectively in emergency or high-risk situations (e.g., preeclampsia, fetal distress)

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Specialized field of study: Nursing

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent full-time Labor & Delivery experience
  • Mother-Baby experience is a plus

Licensure & Certifications (Must be AHA-approved):

  • RN License – Texas (or compact state)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)

Core Competencies:

  • Solid knowledge of nursing standards, policies, and patient care protocols
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and medication side effects
  • Understanding of patient rights, nursing ethics, and confidentiality regulations
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR)

Pay: $50.00 - $53.00 per hour
