Job Description

A private employer is seeking an experienced and compassionate qualified Registered Nurse to provide live-in support and clinical care for an elderly individual based at a private residence in Blackburn.

This is a long-term position suited to a professional nurse who is confident working independently, understands elderly care requirements and is capable of delivering a high standard of personal, medical and day-to-day support within a private home environment.

The role requires someone calm, organised, discreet and attentive, with strong clinical judgement and a genuinely caring nature.

The successful candidate will become a trusted part of the household and will play a key role in maintaining the individual’s comfort, wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Providing daily nursing care and clinical oversight within the home environment.

Administering medication and maintaining accurate medication records.

Monitoring general health, mobility, nutrition, hydration and wellbeing.

Liaising with GPs, consultants, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals where required.

Managing appointments, healthcare schedules and medical documentation.

Supporting with mobility and personal care where necessary.

Monitoring for changes in condition and responding appropriately to health concerns.

Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support.

Maintaining professional standards, confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities at all times.

Assisting with care planning and maintaining accurate written records.

Supporting a safe, clean and comfortable living environment.

Requirements

Valid NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RGN preferred).

Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience.

Previous experience in elderly care, palliative care, private care or community nursing preferred.

Confident medication management skills.

Strong communication and organisational abilities.

Ability to work independently and manage responsibility calmly.

Professional, discreet and trustworthy approach.

Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.

Enhanced DBS check required prior to commencement.
