POSITION: REGISTERED NURSE - Night Shift

REPORTS TO: CLINICAL DIRECTOR

DESCRIPTION:

As a Registered Nurse with Hospice of Laramie, you make a lasting impact that betters the lives of our patients AND their families. You will provide excellent care and support to hospice patients and team members in their homes, designated facilities, and/or in the Hospice House in accordance with the Hospice Philosophy. We are looking for professional and compassionate individuals to be a part of our amazing team here at Hospice of Laramie.

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: PRN, Part-Time Nights (6:30pm - 6:30am)

Overtime Pay – Hours worked over 40 hours per week, paid at 1.5x Standard Rate
On Call Pay – As necessary, paid at current rate

Clinical Incentives Program - Up to $325 per Quarter (PT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patient Contact – Assess, monitor, and identify needs of patients and caregivers, initiate treatment in accordance with care plans, assist and perform therapeutic procedures including: dispensing/administering medications, hands on treatments, therapeutic communication techniques.
• Supplies – Keep an inventory of supplies and hospice supplied medications, therapies, and treatments for patients and let staff know when items need replenished.
• Confidentiality - Maintain confidentiality concerning all patient records and/or patient and family/caregiver interactions.
• Clean & Healthy Living - Maintain a clean and healthy-living patient care environment.
• Communication - Maintain regular communication with other RN’s and/or Clinical Director.
• Trainings - Demonstrate continued professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, continuing educational courses, and in-service training. Assists in the orientation process and continuing education opportunities for Care Givers and CNAs.
• Record Keeping - Record in a timely manner all activities in the chosen Electronic Health Record charting database.
• Positivity - Work to improve services and provide positive and appropriate care for the terminally ill and their families.
• Initiative – Ability to work alone, finding helpful tasks to assist with the above areas of hospice.

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of hospice services and end-of-life stages
• Effective Communication Skills
• Computer proficiency
• Ability to follow established protocol; maintain quality and safety
• Good judgement – ability to make effective decisions in critical situations
• Have physical endurance for shifts predominantly standing, moving, bending, and lifting. (Move up to 50 lbs. safely.)
• Works well as a member of a team

QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED:

• Experience with hospice or palliative care
• Experience and understanding of therapeutic communication methods
• Knowledge of medical clinical operations including billing, medical procedures, and testing
• Ability to train and assist CNA/Caregivers

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Pass background check and drug test
• Valid licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of WY
• Valid CPR/AED certification
• Valid driver’s license and current proof of insurance.
• Completes twelve (12) hours of in-service/online training every twelve (12) months (Relias).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Locations may include: Patient homes, designated facilities, and Hospice House.

Regularly exposure to biological and chemical hazards, fumes, vapors, infectious diseases, noise, and confined spaces. May be on feet for extended periods of time. Employees may be required/asked to perform duties/tasks outside those listed in the job description. Fair Labor Standards Act is designated by position. PAY RATE: Starting at $34.00 an hour
