Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse – Operating Theatre is responsible for providing professional perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The role involves scrubbing and circulating duties for various specialties, including Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics, Cardiac, ENT, Urology, and Orthopedic (Hand) surgeries. The nurse ensures the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and clinical excellence within the Operating Theatre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room, instruments, and sterile field for assigned surgical procedures.
  • Perform scrubbing and circulating duties for diverse surgical specialties: Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics, Cardiac, ENT, Urology, and Orthopedic (Hand).
  • Assist the surgeon and anesthetist intraoperatively by anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Verify surgical instruments, equipment functionality, and supplies before, during, and after surgery.
  • Ensure accurate surgical counts (instruments, sponges, needles) before wound closure.
  • Monitor and document patient condition and responses throughout the perioperative process.
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times.
  • Participate in post-operative debriefing and ensure safe transfer of patients to recovery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain efficiency and quality in the operating suite.
  • Participate in continuous education, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • DHA license or eligibility as a Registered Nurse (mandatory).
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Theatre experience, with hands-on scrubbing experience in the listed specialties.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, patient safety, and surgical instrumentation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
