Registered Nurse – Overnight Newborn & Postpartum Care (Independent Contractor)

North Alabama Newborn Nurse is seeking compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses to join our team providing in-home overnight newborn and postpartum care for families across North Alabama.

This is a 1099 independent contractor role, ideal for RNs who love supporting new families, value flexible scheduling, and want meaningful, one-on-one work in the home setting.

Responsibilities

Newborn Care

• Feeding, diapering, soothing, monitoring sleep
• Maintaining overnight logs
• Supporting safe sleep practices

Parent Support

• Emotional support during the postpartum period
• Checking in on recovery, mood, and general well-being
• Providing education, guidance, and reassurance

Light Infant Housekeeping

• Cleaning and sanitizing bottles & pump parts
• Baby laundry as needed
• Keeping feeding/sleeping areas tidy

Professionalism

• Communicating respectfully and clearly with families
• Following family preferences while adhering to safe standards
• Collaborating with the assigned nurse team

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (Alabama or multistate compact)
• Current BLS/CPR (NRP preferred, not required)
• Ability to pass a background check
• Minimum of 2 nights per week availability during contracts
• Reliable transportation to in-home environments
• Experience in Mother/Baby, NICU, Nursery, L&D, or Pediatrics preferred

About the Role

• Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
• Schedule: Typically 2–5 nights/week per contract
• Pay: Competitive hourly or per-shift rate based on experience
• Location: Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Athens & surrounding North Alabama areas

Nurses are matched with families based on experience, location, and availability. Contracts generally last 2–15 weeks, with teams of two or more nurses rotating shifts.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
