Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and coordinating nursing care for residents in a skilled nursing facility in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies. The RN ensures quality clinical outcomes, supervises nursing staff, and promotes a safe and therapeutic environment for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care in accordance with individualized care plans and physician orders
  • Perform ongoing resident assessments and document clinical findings accurately and timely
  • Administer medications and treatments in compliance with facility protocols and regulatory standards
  • Monitor resident conditions and promptly report significant changes to physicians and the interdisciplinary team
  • Supervise and direct the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
  • Participate in care plan development, updates, and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including infection control and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records in the electronic medical record system
  • Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate clinical interventions
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and staff

Qualifications

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute care preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively supervise and lead nursing staff
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for skilled nursing facilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records systems

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a healthcare setting with exposure to infectious diseases and medical conditions
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance)
  • Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Scheduled shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
