Clinical Informatics/Coder and Kronos Scheduling Lead
We are looking for nurses who like a quickly changing work environment, which involves critical thinking. Cline Emergency Unit is a 22-bed, Level 3 designated Trauma Center. We care for a patient population that includes all ages. Our staff is a well-oiled machine that is quick to respond to any emergency. We are part of the Arkansas SAVES family for excellence in stroke care. Several of our nurses recently became SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) certified. Our team is a vital part of our cardiovascular program. Our nurses work very closely with the physicians as they are on the unit 24/7. Our Emergency Department provides training to increase our knowledge and skills, including ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, SANE, and a multitude of trauma related education. Responsibilities:
- Integrate emergency nursing science, computer science, and information science to enhance Clinical Information Systems in the Emergency Department.
- Collaborates with Information Systems, Medical Staff, Nursing Services, Organizational Development, Process Improvement, and users of the end ED Information System, Information Systems, and other clinical departments in problem solving issues related to the ED Information System.
- Oversees the implementation, support and delivery of the Kronos advanced scheduling system and clinical information systems including but not limited to the hospital electronic medical record.
- Oversight includes upgrades, testing and maintenance; and the incorporation of educating the Emergency Department staff, including Medical Staff and Associates.
- Functions as a liaison for ongoing support and additional clinical informatics systems as needed, responsible for facilitating communication from the clinical end users across the patient care departments while working collaboratively and directly with the IT Business analysts.
- The Emergency Department Coder is responsible for evaluating and assigning the appropriate ICD-10, CPT codes, abstracts pertinent clinical information for bill preparation, enters charges for appropriate E/M level and procedure charges for Emergency Department patients.
- Researches and resolves coding/billing issues, analyzes the medical record for the completeness, consistency, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ADN required. BSN or MSN preferred. Cerner Systems experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current Arkansas or Compact State RN License in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years Emergency Department RN experience required. Knowledge of basic ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding instructions is preferred, will train as necessary.
- Certifications: BLS required. ACLS, PALS and TNCC required within one (1) year of hire.
- Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.
