Learn About A Day in the Life of a Med Surg RN:
Responsibilities:
- The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse professional who assumes responsibility for the direction and coordination of all day-to-day functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts.

In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit.
- He/she is responsible for the supervision of assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to provide a safe, caring environment for patients, family and staff which fosters professional nursing practice, shared decision making, inter-professional teamwork and collaboration with positive patient and staff outcomes.

He/she assists the Nursing Manager/Director in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures, allocation of resources, quality/performance improvement initiatives, educational programs and shared governance councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
- Provides direct nursing care as needed.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements:

A graduate of an accredited nursing school

Licensure Must possess a current Oklahoma License as a Registered Nurse

Two to five years of clinical experience (preferably in the area of application)

BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Must obtain and maintain ACLS within 6 months of hire
Preferred Job Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
