Travel Companion (RN)

We are seeking qualified registered nurses to become GOMO Travel Companions and join our growing GOMO Travel Team! GOMO travelers include the elderly, persons with travel anxiety, mobility challenges or dementia, and travelers that may just need assistance and are seeking to travel with a trusted companion.

As a GOMO Travel Companion you will accompany individuals that may have medical needs to help make their journey comfortable, enjoyable and stress-free. Medical considerations can be a significant source of stress and worry for many would-be travelers and their families, and as a medically-trained GOMO Travel Companion you will be providing compassionate travel assistance to help overcome even the most complicated travel challenges. While GOMO Travel Companions that are trained nurses do not work in that capacity with our travelers, they nonetheless provide the compassionate care, assistance and attention to detail our GOMO travelers and their families have come to expect from GOMO Travel.

GOMO Travel Companion Responsibilities

As a GOMO Travel Companion, your responsibilities shall include:

· Assist travelers with their pre-arranged travel needs

· Pick up/drop off travelers from home or final destinations

· Carry travelers’ luggage and help stow carry-on bags

· Assist traveler through security, departure gate and boarding

· Handle interruptions and delays in travel itineraries and assist with alternate arrangements

· Deal with transportation representatives on travelers’ behalf (including airline agents, cab drivers, cruise agents, etc.)

· Communicate updates throughout the trip to the traveler’s family members and other relevant parties

· Assist travelers through customs and baggage claim

· Make the traveler’s trip as pleasant and stress-free as possible

· Maintain a safe and comfortable travel experience for the traveler

GOMO Travel Companion Minimum Qualifications

· Registered Nurse with dementia experience

· Friendly, thoughtful, caring and compassionate people skills

· Exemplary interpersonal and organizational skills

· High attention to detail

· Ability to demonstrate responsiveness, sound judgment and awareness

· Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with travelers

· Ability to project trustworthiness, sense of security and confidence in dealings with travelers and their family members

· At least 25 years of age

· Comfortable assisting the elderly with travel anxiety

· Valid drivers’ license with clean driving record

· Successful background and screening checks

· Primary language is English but the ability to speak Spanish or another foreign language is a plus

· Must be willing to apply to Homeland Security Trusted Traveler Program

· Prior travel experience required

· Ability to push a wheel-chair or assist with a walker

· Certified Dementia Practitioner or previous experience as a travel agent or airline professional (e.g. flight assistant, agent) is a plus

• Work Location: In-person, preference for candidates within a 30-minute drive of FLL.
