In this vital role, you will provide specialized respiratory care to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and trauma cases. Your skills in airway management, ventilator management, and patient assessment will ensure optimal respiratory function and comfort. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care in hospital environments such as ICU, emergency departments, operating rooms, and outpatient clinics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your physiology knowledge and critical care experience in a fast-paced, rewarding setting. Shift schedule is varied shift, on call also required.
Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments to evaluate respiratory status and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.
- Manage ventilators and monitor vital signs to ensure proper respiratory support for critically ill patients.
- Assist with airway management procedures such as intubation, extubation, and suctioning in emergency and surgical settings.
- Provide emergency respiratory interventions in high-pressure situations like Level I trauma centers or acute care units.
- Document all procedures accurately in medical records while adhering to hospital protocols and medical terminology standards.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, medication administration, and post-discharge care plans.
Experience
- Proven hospital experience working within inpatient or outpatient settings with a focus on critical care or pulmonology.
- Extensive ICU experience with ventilator management and airway procedures across adult, pediatric, and Geriatric populations.
- Hands-on experience in emergency medicine environments such as Level I trauma centers or Level II trauma centers.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine practices including vital signs monitoring, patient assessment, and acute care protocols.
- Prior clinic or outpatient respiratory therapy experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to respiratory function is essential for effective patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous. Pay: $75.00 - $85.00 per hour
