Registered Respiratory Therapist or RRT Polysomnographer

Description:


We are seeking qualified Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) and RRT Polysomnographers to support respiratory therapy and sleep medicine services for a VA medical facility in the Los Angeles area. These positions are contingent upon contract award.

Selected candidates will provide respiratory care, perform sleep studies, and support patient monitoring while working under the direction of the Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Chief of Respiratory Therapy.

Job Duties:

  • Respond to Rapid Response calls
  • Set up and manage CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP systems
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Perform full-night polysomnography studies and split-night studies
  • Monitor sleep activity including EEG, EOG, EMG, airflow, oximetry, and EKG
  • Maintain technical logs of patient events and activity
  • Perform electronic and manual scoring of sleep studies
  • Follow all clinical policies, safety protocols, and VA procedures
Requirements:

Respiratory Therapist (RT)

  • Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience, including 1 year in critical care
  • Active Respiratory Care Practitioner license – State of California
  • Current CPR and ACLS certification
  • 3 professional references

RRT Polysomnographer

(Must also meet all RT requirements above)

  • Completion of an accredited sleep program
  • Minimum 2 years of polysomnography (PSG) experience
  • One of the following credentials:
    • RPSGT – Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, OR
    • RST – Registered Sleep Technologist, OR
    • SDS – Sleep Disorders Specialist
  • 3 professional references as a polysomnographer

Candidates must pass federal background screening.
