Prepare labour room and delivery equipment before admission

Assist obstetrician during:

Normal vaginal delivery

Water birth

VBAC monitoring

Gentle cesarean preparation (when required)

Monitor and record:

Maternal vital signs

Fetal heart rate

Labour progress (partograph)

Provide continuous emotional and physical support to labouring mothers

Assist with non-pharmacological pain relief:

Breathing techniques

Position changes

Birthing ball support

Hydrotherapy assistance

Maintain aseptic precautions during delivery

Immediate newborn care after birth

2. Antenatal Care

Admission assessment and documentation

Monitor maternal vitals and fetal wellbeing

Educate mothers regarding:

Labour signs

Nutrition

Movement & posture

Assist during antenatal procedures and scans

3. Postnatal Care

Monitor mother and newborn regularly

Assess:

Bleeding

Uterine involution

Pain level

Breastfeeding initiation

Support early skin-to-skin contact

Assist mothers in breastfeeding and positioning

Provide newborn basic care guidance

4. Newborn Care

Immediate newborn assessment

Maintain warmth and safe handling

Assist in breastfeeding initiation within first hour

Monitor newborn vitals and feeding pattern

Educate parents on newborn care and hygiene

5. Patient Education & Emotional Support

Provide respectful, non-judgmental communication

Reduce anxiety through reassurance and explanation

Support birth plans and informed decision making

Encourage partner involvement where allowed

6. Documentation & Clinical Safety

Maintain accurate nursing records

Chart vitals, intake-output, medications

Maintain partograph documentation

Follow infection control protocols

Biomedical waste segregation as per guidelines

7. Holistic Care Support (Specific to Vidhai Model)

Assist pregnancy classes and workshops when required

Support postpartum recovery practices

Maintain calm, home-like birthing environment

Encourage gentle handling and mother-centered care

8. Emergency Responsibilities

Identify early warning signs:

Fetal distress

Postpartum hemorrhage

Hypertension complications

Assist in obstetric emergencies

Prepare emergency drugs and equipment promptly

Support neonatal resuscitation team

Required Qualifications

B.Sc Nursing / GNM Nursing

Registered Nurse with State Nursing Council

Experience in maternity or labour room preferred (Freshers with training may apply)

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
