SUMMARY

This position will assist in physical therapy and/or occupational therapy sessions under the direction of a licensed therapist or therapy assistant. This position will assist with patient care. Other duties include escorting patients to/from treatment areas, advance set up of appropriate equipment prior to treatment and general maintenance of treatment areas.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • May assist with specific treatment only as directed by staff PT, PTA, OT and OTA.
  • Monitors vital signs, maintains adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for the patient undergoing treatments.
  • Maintains patient medical record forms, evaluations and educational handout distribution material. Assists in record keeping of patient files, invoicing and claims billing.
  • Communicates any changes in condition (physicial or mental) to staff PT, PTA, OT, OTA, nursing and other facility personnel as appropriate.
  • Orders, stocks, and maintains accurate records of adaptive equipment/supplies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience as a CNA or restorative aide is desirable prior to employment, but not required.
  • General awareness of anatomy and patient care is very helpful.
  • Current BCLS (CPR) certification is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • This person must be able to read and communicate effectively in English, with strong written and verbal skills.
  • A basic knowledge of computer skills is required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing and regulatory environment.
