Rehab Technician
Full-Time
Responsibilities
Assist the therapist and assistant in clerical and patient, client, team member related duties
Participate in department meetings and in facility meetings as assigned
Perform clerical work as directed, including computerized activities
Consistently attends work and provides appropriate notice for scheduled vacations
Answer and direct phone calls
Develop and maintain a filing system
Assist with treatment as directed by therapist
Coordinate work activities with members of other departments and other staff within the rehabilitation department
Demonstrate a positive attitude and team building approach with all patients, clients, team members
Provide general support to visitors
Transport patients as scheduled to and from treatment areas
Prepare patients for treatment
Assist patients, clients, team members with particular issues or needs
Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Participate in facility performance improvement programs
Perform other duties as requested
Report any unusual incidents to DOR
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the treatment areas and department
Assist with maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and equipment
EXPOSURE RISK
The Rehabilitation Tech is at high risk for exposure to blood and body fluids.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Reports to the Director of Rehab or designee.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
As delegated
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent. CNA certificate if required by state law.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in patient/resident care in a nursing center, hospital, or rehabilitation center preferred. Therapy students will be considered.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in well-lighted/ventilated office and therapy areas.
Sitting, standing, bending, lifting and moving intermittently during working hours.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Involved with patients/residents, family members, personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients/residents, family members, etc.
Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Must be constantly alert for patient’s/resident’s safety.
Subject to falls, burns from equipment, infectious diseases, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
Subject to lifting, carrying and supporting patients/residents.
Able to travel between facilities as indicated by Supervisor.
Mobile phone use is only permitted during break and non paid allocated lunch times. Phones should be kept on vibrate at all times.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Completion of on-the-job orientation and training program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to move (walk, stoop, bend, stand, sit push, pull and lift) intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, clients, and team members.
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to lift patients/residents, medical equipment, supplies, etc. to 50 lbs
