Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Remote Phase I ESA Report Writer to produce comprehensive environmental site assessment reports on a contract or per-project basis. The majority of the reports will be partial/second-half ESA's, and you can receive 1-8 per week depending on the workload you are looking to take on and the current availability.
Contractor will be paid as follows:
$150 for partial/second-half ESA assignments
$250 for full ESA assignments
Detailed Scope of Work
A. Full Report Assignments
- Review all provided property files, previous reports, site information, and documentation. Review and summarize previous reports when applicable.
- Conduct regulatory database reviews
- Perform historical records research
- Submit and track FOIA/information requests to applicable local/state/federal agencies.
- Review and summarize environmental records, permits, spills, USTs/ASTs, compliance history, etc.
- Identify potential RECs/CRECs/HRECs and data gaps based on findings.
- Draft applicable sections for Phase I ESA reports in provided template and writing style, typically sealant data table and executive summary information. Sections include;
- Executive summary information, limitations section, adjoining properties table, county assessor summary information (legal description and ownership information; parcel number, length of ownership) physiology and geology/hydrogeology sections, historical review, regulatory database review, previous report(s), FOIA response review and discussions, regulatory database review, regulatory database review, previous report(s), vaper intrusion review, and findings and conclusions
- Revise drafts based on feedback until approved for finalization.
- Maintain confidentiality and ghostwriting role
B. Partial / Second-Half Assignments

Experience
- Proven experience in technical writing, environmental reporting, or related fields with a focus on Phase I ESA documentation.
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze complex environmental data.
- Proficiency in Word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word) and diagramming tools such as Visio.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills to ensure clarity and professionalism in all reports.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients remotely.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, industry standards, and best practices for Phase I ESAs is preferred but not mandatory. This position is ideal for professionals seeking flexible remote work arrangements who possess strong technical writing abilities and environmental knowledge.
