The Center for Eye Care and Optical is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Ophthalmology Medical Biller to join our multi-specialty eye care organization in a fully remote position.

This is not an entry-level billing role. We are looking for a candidate with extensive hands-on experience in ophthalmology revenue cycle management, including surgical billing, denial resolution, insurance follow-up, and payment posting within a fast-paced multi-provider, multi-specialty environment.

REQUIRED: Prior experience using Practice+ practice management software in an ophthalmology setting.

Position Overview

The Senior Ophthalmology Medical Biller will work remotely as part of our billing department and will be responsible for managing claims processing, insurance follow-up, denial management, and account resolution for ophthalmology services and procedures.

The ideal candidate is highly experienced, independent, organized, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of recent ophthalmology medical billing experience
  • Experience billing for a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Ophthalmology CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Surgical billing
  • Modifier usage
  • Medicare and commercial payer guidelines
  • Refractions, diagnostic testing, injections, lasers, and surgical procedures
  • REQUIRED experience with Practice+
  • Experience with insurance follow-up and denial appeals
  • Strong understanding of EOBs, claim edits, and AR management
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume workload independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPC certification or equivalent coding certification
  • Experience with retina and surgical ophthalmology billing
  • Experience working remotely in a healthcare billing environment

Responsibilities

  • Review, submit, and follow up on insurance claims
  • Resolve denied or underpaid claims
  • Work accounts receivable aging reports
  • Review claim edits and correct billing errors
  • Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status
  • Assist patients with understanding balances
  • Maintain compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with providers and internal departments to resolve billing issues
  • Assist with identifying workflow improvements and billing efficiencies
