Applied Economics is a boutique consulting firm offering litigation consulting services covering a number of industries in the context of intellectual property and oil & gas litigation. The firm provides expert witness opinions, economic analyses, and other litigation-related services for clients in a wide variety of industries. The firm has extensive experience in intellectual property, energy, and economic damages matters. We provide assistance with matters before state and federal courts, arbitration panels related to complex commercial litigation, and mediation proceedings.
Research Assistant / Consultant:
- Will work under the supervision of Senior Consultants and Directors in performing research and economic/financial analysis tasks related to the various litigation engagements of the firm.
Qualifications:
- Recent college/grad school graduate or 1-2 years relevant post-college experience with a degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or other business-related degrees.
- Any intellectual property, valuation, or oil & gas exposure is a plus, as is exposure to business law/litigation/consulting in general.
- Will consider applicants with law degree, but please be prepared to explain why you aren't pursuing a career in law.
- Strong both quantitatively (MUST be strong with Excel) and with research and writing, but will consider candidates stronger in one area than another.
- Intellectually curious.
- Able to withstand high-pressure situations and maintain a positive attitude.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to deliver the highest quality work product at all times.
Required Quantitative Skills:
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, regressions, financial functions, and formatting – must have a good comfort level with financial modeling using Microsoft Excel.
- Intermediate database skills, including SQL Server.
- Strong skills in financial and economic analysis.
Preferred Quantitative Skills:
- Advanced database skills.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL Server.
Research/Writing Skills:
- Expert level Internet researcher able to identify and quickly assemble credible information about any given topic.
- Able to add value by following unexpected threads and uncovering interesting twists and nuances while researching a specific topic.
- Able to compile information from a variety of sources and synthesize into formal prose for a legal/business audience.
- Ability to write in succinct manner, with a logical structure proper grammar.
- Able to maintain accurate documentation of sources and citations.
- Microsoft Word skills are mandatory (including styles, formatting, and footnotes).
- Microsoft PowerPoint skills are helpful.
- Ability to maintain organization of large volumes of documents/data.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
