Job Description

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to support an innovative research project investigating public acceptance and policy frameworks for Air Taxis (ATs) and autonomous aircraft. These transformative vehicles, a key component of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), are poised to redefine urban transportation in the near future. The research focuses on understanding public perceptions, behavioral intentions, and adoption patterns using advanced methodologies, including the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and fuzzy sets theory, while addressing critical policy challenges. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough literature reviews and stay aware of the latest developments in air mobility, autonomous aircraft, UTAUT, fuzzy logic, traffic flow models, GIS and urban planning related fields.
  • Assist in the development of experimental protocols and research methodologies, statistical analysis, and modelling.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to contribute to the ongoing research efforts.
  • Collaborate with the research team to synthesize findings and contribute to project milestones.
  • Maintain accurate records of research activities and results.
  • Stay informed about advancements in Advanced Air Mobility, technology acceptance models, and sustainable urban mobility policies. The minimum qualifications for the Research Associate position are as follows:
  • Master's Degree: A master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, autonomous aircraft, transportation, GIS applications in air transportation and urban planning, statistical modeling, or related discipline. Candidates expecting to complete their master’s degree soon will be considered, pending the assessment of their grades and the submission of proof of research activities.
  • Publication Record: A track record of academic publications

Minimum Qualification

  • Master's Degree: A master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, autonomous aircraft, transportation, GIS applications in air transportation and urban planning, statistical modeling, or related discipline. Candidates expecting to complete their master’s degree soon will be considered, pending the assessment of their grades and the submission of proof of research activities.
  • Publication Record: A track record of academic publications

Preferred Qualification

  • Master's Degree: A master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, transportation, statistical modeling, GIS applications in air transportation and urban planning, or a related discipline.
  • Publication Record: A strong track record of academic publications in peer-reviewed journals, particularly in the areas of transportation, urban mobility, technology adoption, behavioral studies, or related fields.
  • Research Experience: Previous experience working on research projects related to autonomous aircraft, human factors, statistical modeling, transportation, urban mobility, or technology adoption. This includes applying quantitative methodologies such as statistical analysis, survey design, and structural equation modeling (SEM) or fuzzy logic modeling. Experience with various statistical and modeling software like SPSS, Stata, SmartPLS, GIS etc.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in research, such as Python, MATLAB, or R.

Expected Skills

  • Research Background: Demonstrated experience in academic or applied research, with a strong understanding of research methodologies and practices.
  • Data Analysis Proficiency: Proficient in data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation. Familiarity with relevant software tools for data analysis is a plus. Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and research findings effectively.
  • Autonomous Vehicles Knowledge: Familiarity with autonomous vehicle technologies, traffic flow models, and an understanding of the current landscape in the field.
  • Fuzzy Logic Systems: Preferably, experience or knowledge in working with fuzzy logic systems and their application to relevant research areas.
  • Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to evolving project requirements and a willingness to learn new concepts and methodologies.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to contribute to problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Academic Qualifications: A master or higher degree in a related field such as engineering, computer science, transportation, statistical modelling, or a relevant discipline.
  • Time Management: Effective organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines and deliverables. Proficiency in managing and simultaneously handling multiple projects and tasks.
